David Nicol is a chartered accountant. He was a Director of Morgan Stanley International PLC from 2004 to 2010. He worked for Morgan Stanley for 26 years in a number of Operations and Finance roles and was appointed EMEA CAO in 2004. David was a Non-Executive Director of Euroclear plc from 1998 to 2010. He trained and qualified in 1980 as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young and spent two years working for KPMG in Hong Kong before joining Morgan Stanley in London in 1984. David Nicol is on the Board of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments, the Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and is a member of the Appointment Committee of the Hermes Property Unit Trust. David joined the Board as a Non-Executive Director in March 2012 and was subsequently appointed as Chief Executive in March 2013.
Stephen Ford is Head of Investment Management. He joined Brewin Dolphin in March 2000 and has held a number of senior management roles and was appointed as a director of the operating company, Brewin Dolphin Limited in 2009. Stephen previously led the financial services division at a regional Building Society and holds the Chartered Wealth Manager and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation.
Rob began his career in the City with Savory Milln, a small broking house, in 1986 and he joined Brewin Dolphin in 2007. He looks after a mixture of private clients, pension funds and charities. Rob was appointed as a Regional Director for London in 2013 and is also a member of the London Executive Committee. He is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Charlotte Black is Corporate Affairs Director at Brewin Dolphin having been Marketing Director since 1992. Charlotte joined the Brewin Dolphin Group in 1987. She is also a Director of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI) and the WMA (formerly APCIMS the industry trade association). Charlotte was a Non-Executive Director of Euroclear PLC from 2002 - 2007 and a Director of CRESTCo Limited from 1996 to 2002 and the T2S AG at the ECB until 2010. She is a member of several Advisory Committees in the City including the Scottish Financial Enterprise Advisory Board and the Euroclear Cross Border Market Advisory Committee (XMAC). Charlotte Black was a Westminster Parliamentary Candidate in 1997.

John is a Certified Financial Planner, holds the Association of Taxation Technicians qualification as well as the Advanced Financial Planning and Investment Management Certificates. John’s expertise is in the area of holistic financial planning, which incorporates investment, retirement, school fees and estate planning advice.

Elaine joined the Brewin Dolphin Equity Research Team in 2000 after gaining a degree in International Business Management with Finance (BSc Hons). Elaine initially took over coverage of Utilities and has subsequently taken over coverage of Beverages and Information Technology. In 2002, Elaine set up the Quantitative research offering for the firm, which she has subsequently handed over, and in 2009 took over management of the equity research team. Elaine is a member of the Securities and Investment Institute, and holds the Securities and Investment Institute Diploma.

Guy joined Brewin Dolphin’s Fund Research Department in February 2006 as a senior fund analyst, responsible for Fixed Income and UK Equity fund selection. Prior to joining Brewin Dolphin, Guy was an investment director and portfolio manager at Hill Martin Asset Management in London. Guy is a member of the Securities and Investments Institute and is a CFA charterholder.
Ben was appointed as Head of Fund Research at Brewin Dolphin in 2010, having joined in 2003 as a fund analyst. Ben holds the Securities Institute Diploma having specialised in financial derivatives and has a degree in Mathematics from Loughborough University. He is currently responsible for US, Emerging Market and Global collective investment recommendations along with alternative and structured investments. Ben sits on the Brewin Dolphin Asset Allocation Committee, is a member of the Securities & Investment Institute and is a CFA charterholder.

Before joining the financial world John served in the Royal Navy in the rank of Lieutenant-Commander, having studied at the Royal Naval Engineering College Manadon, Plymouth and at Brighton University. He has a BSc in Electronic Engineering and became a Chartered Electrical Engineer in 1982. On leaving the Service he attended Edinburgh University Business School from which he graduated MBA in 1995.In December 2007, John joined Brewin Dolphin as Head of Investment Companies Research, before which he ran his own managed funds consultancy, Newlands Fund Research. Prior to that he was Investment Companies Analyst at the London stockbroking firm of Williams de Broë Plc.
John is a member of the Association of Investment Companies (AIC)`s Statistics Committee and of the Money Marketing/IFA (UK) financial panel. He has also written a number of books and reports about the managed funds sector including ‘Put Not Your Trust in Money’, the official history of the UK investment trust industry, published in 1997 and company histories of Foreign & Colonial, Murray International and Witan Pacific Investment Trusts and of Aberdeen Asset Management.
